'Town Bridge - Bedford'

I'm proud to have been the lead engineer for a street light replacement scheme in Bedford town centre. The Town Bridge was previously illuminated with high pressure sodium (SON) street lights and as part of a wider LED replacement programme the lights required an upgrade.

The bridge was designed with new DW Windsor Pall Mall LED heritage style lanterns (matching closely with the previous units) with an incorporated remote monitoring system (Telensa). This allows the authority to monitor faults in real time and accurately report energy consumption.

The lighting design and use of LED lanterns allowed for a reduction in energy, saving 2.2kW in power consumption, amounting to 8,800kWh per year.
