'Reducing Light Pollution'

I really wanted to share this photo taken by Bedford School's Observatory. The image shows the night sky and the stars above Bedford.

This was taken after Bedford's old SOX and SON lantern stock was replaced with new LED street lights.

This is the first time they have been able to take an image like this; the light pollution before the replacement was so bad the photo could never be produced.

The minimal upward light produced by the new LED lanterns has had a major impact on the night sky over Bedford. A great result for anyone interested in the night sky!
